It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that most of my wardrobe is already Decjuba and that it’s my absolute go-to for effortless style on any occasion.
So, to get excited about the festive season and welcome my favourite time of year, I headed in store for a wardrobe refresh and have put together a little Summer dressing guide for you all.
It’s so rare that you can shop somewhere and find outfit options covering everything from daytime denim to evening elegance, but Decjuba never fails to deliver the goods! I even found two different options for each occasion on the festive list, so there’s something for whatever vibe you’re feeling on the day.
Christmas lunch ready
We generally celebrate Christmas Day over a long family lunch at home, but I still like to add a touch of glamour and get dressed up for the occasion. I chose the Rowena High Neck Maxi Dress for this first look because it’s not only delightfully elegant in length and design but also deceivingly practical in the waistline region!
I LOVE how maxi dresses can be quite dressy and elongating but also allow full movement (and full festive food coma) without any discomfort or unzipping required at the end of a big holiday meal. I can also never go past something black, plus this maxi can double as the ultimate party dress by adding some jewellery and heels.
You might like to leave the maxi for the evening segment of celebrations if you have multiple events on Christmas Day or you might simply feel a little more casual, in which case denim is always a good idea. I chose this fabulous Piper Button Down Dress for looking dressier than it feels but also for its enduring versatility.
While it gives the same relaxed appearance as denim shorts or jeans, a dress is so much more comfortable and breathable especially in the warmer months of sticky thighs and swollen everything. I paired it with sneakers for a more daytime, street style look (I’d rock a ballgown with sneakers if I could – these Esme Sneakers are a staple in my wardrobe), but I’d equally dress it up with a heel and some statement earrings if I wanted to wear it in the evening.
New Years Eve - it's time to celebrate!
If you’re ever going to whip out a sparkle or a sequin, it’s to ring in the new year. Especially after the rollercoaster that 2020 has been (and the alarming amount of time I’ve spent dressed WAY down), I couldn’t go past the Hayden Sequin Cami to build out this first NYE look.
Given that the celebrations are likely to start earlier in the day, I paired it with the Louisa High Waist Shorts to dress the sequins down a little bit but also for the stark colour contrast that makes the sequins pop even more and accentuates the beautiful waist detailing and ruche features of the linen shorts. Nothing finishes off an outfit like a classy clutch, so I added the Freya Pouch Shoulder Bag with a splash of gold in the chained handle to enhance the celebratory nature of the occasion and of course a flattering but totally walk-able heel to boot – the Eden Wide Strap Thong Heel.
To go one step dressier, but still picking up glistening, metallic tones, this time I went signature black on black for ultimate impact and threw in my FAVOURITE feature – a puffy sleeve. I started with the Arielle Balloon Sleeve Blouse because I fell in LOVE with it and worked through a few different options for the bottoms, but the Carly Tailored Shorts’ clean lines and untextured finish did so well to highlight the gold details and super fun shapes of the balloon sleeve.
This time, I swapped to the Naomi Padded Braid Heel to match the cleaner lines of the shorts. Heels are so good for a night out, but it is SO important that they’re comfortable to walk or dance in and not too high, so these are perfect! If the weather turns cool, you could also always add the matching Carly Blazer to finish off your outfit.
